How drug abuse affects more than just the user.
|
This is a
compelling true story of love and courage. Listen as Linda Couch
describes her relentless battle to save the life of her brother,
Eric, from an addiction to heroin. Linda emotionally involves
her audience by painting the real picture of what a family with
an addiction goes through. She graphically relates how her
family was torn apart by Eric’s addiction that started as
casual use, progressing to harder drugs, sickness and ultimately
death.
This video also
shows that there are other victims of drug abuse: sisters, fiancées,
parents, friends and kids. We see clearly that the claim "I’m
not hurting anyone but myself" is nothing but a lie.

Review:
"This film tells a heartbreaking story
of Eric, a bright, promising young man who, in the course of three days, smoked a
marijuana joint laced with heroin, got hooked and became a serious addict. Within months,
Eric was mainlining, and then went through numerous withdrawals, dragging his friends and
family into an emotional abyss from which they have scarcely recovered. As the testimony
of Erics sister, Linda Couch, builds to a conclusion, we begin to realize that Eric
is not around to give his side of the story (we later learn that Eric has died of a heroin
overdose). Using home movies, re-enactments and moving testimonials, the Drug Wars
series effectively manages to demonstrate the horrors of addiction without ever coming
across as corny or preachy. Most tragic in this video is the effect of Erics death
on the 7-year-old son of his fiancée, a young boy who looked up to Eric as a role model -
proof once again, that drug abuse is not a victimless crime. Like its predecessor,
Drug
Wars - Crank County, this is highly recommended."
